I would love to be able to do my bit for Children in Need. I can't afford to donate much myself so I am sending out this challenge - buy a copy of my poetry book this weekend through Lulu.com and I will donate £1 to every book sold. I hope some people do take me up on this as it is the only way I will be able to help this very worthy cause.

Hi everyone. I've had a lovely relaxing weekend with my girls. We watched lots of movies together and had a very enjoyable swim on Saturday and I feel chilled and calmer than perhaps I have been of late. I was delighted to recieve my first proof copy of Oggy and the Snot Monster but unfortunately it was the wrong size, too expensive and the cover was wrong! Grrrr! Never mind it should end up being bigger AND cheaper. Not doing much writing this week as I have some catching up with some friends to get on with and a mound of washing and ironing to do! Have a good week everyone.

Well I have just come back from my first experience of a writer's group and I must say it was a very interesting evening. The group was hosting their award ceremony for their latest competition and it was very nice to hear all the winning poetry and story entries on the theme 'Beautiful Sussex' read out 'beautifully' by actress Sue Shephard. Everybody appeared to enjoy the evening and the company.
I have to say though that the highlight of the evening in my opinion, was the judges speeches later on. It was absolutely fascinating hearing all about Jay Dixon's experiences as an editor for Mills and Boons, Keith Ridley's extremely interesting career as Editor-in-chief of the Eastbourne Herald (which he began at the very tender age of 12 writing school sports reviews!). And last but definitely not least The Batchelor's Dec Clusky's amazing experiences. What an absolutely amazing guy and his wife was lovely too. I just thought he was fascinating, and really funny. I know the Irish can talk (having an Irish Ex-husband) but he is a very skilled speaker - his story about landing a Boeing 747 was brilliant!
So there you have it my blog today on my introduction to the Anderida Writer's group - maybe next time I will feel confident enough to talk to more people and share my experiences of writing.

Well the end is in sight for the editing of The Realm of the Purple Dragon. I am very close to finishing tidying up all the loose ends now. It feels great to be able to hold the proof book in my hand and flick through its pages. I hope I can make the changes I want to the cover without too much trouble. Here is a little glimpse of what its going to look like inside.

I'm feeling a little more positive this week. I have thrown myself into enjoying my time and every spare moment I get, which doesn't seem to be much - I am working on my kids' books. ' The Realm of the Purple Dragon' is nearly ready to go on sale on Lulu.com, just a few more tweeks on the editing side and with the cover art and then we are good to go. I know the kids will love this book, it is a really lovely journey of discovery wrapped up in fantasy, magic and adventure. I am also having a lot of fun planning lots of books for younger readers and 'Oggy and the Snot Monster' will be my first attempt at this. I think having the word 'snot' in the title has got to draw them in LOL. Anyway I am going to continue to try and be positive and hopefully before not too long you will start to see me on Amazon as well.
Thank you to all my friends and family who have supported me by buying my poetry - love you guys.

My fingers tap gently on the keys of my fantastic new laptop, bought today for me by my lovely mum, and the pure, undiluted exhileration I feel is only slightly hampered by the feeling that I am a dust devil blowing through an old wild west ghost town. A lonely will-o'-the-wisp floating through cyber-space, getting stuck in the world wide webbing, undetected and misunderstood. My blog - unread in its undiscovered country, uncharted though it may be - continues to leave a trail. And the more I write down this utter drivel that spills from my finger tips and onto my blog page, the more I feel, actually very good about myself. I love the feeling of power this writing - anything - something - gives me, because it is mine, my soul in print. And the power is imagination - the power to create - anything - something from nothing!
So as ghostly as my writing feels on this empty website inhabited by - well - me! I will continue to be - to write my ghost writing...and toss it to the wind!

Well after the initial frenzy of trying to get my poetry out there and published in book form, it has slowed down somewhat. I have discovered that it is really hard as a self-published author to get your work out there - anywhere!!! I went into the Sussex Bookshop in town, book in hand and very quickly was told they had been taken over by W.H.Smiths and they sent me off there with my tail between my legs. That was when I was told in no uncertain terms that I could not sell my book in their hallowed halls of properly published works even with an ISBN and I should look for a small local book shop to help me - But you are my local bookshop! duh!
Then there was my utterly hopeless and complete waste of time 'Facebook Campaign' which I had hoped would send my link flying round the World Wide Web at the speed of clicking mouse, shunted through by friend of friend of ...well you get the picture - nope! I did however see lots of those stupid, copy and paste jokes flying around - far more interesting and useful than a struggling single mother trying to sell her art to feed her kids! And as for a coffee morning of bored housewives - total books sold - One!!! And that was to the lady running it! My mum has managed to sell a few copies to some of the elderly folk in her retirement village - oh well that's OK then! And of course some family and close friends are bound to buy a couple!
So while I wait for my dampered enthusiasm to be reignited I am close to finishing The Realm of the Purple Dragon's editing and hope to publish that - maybe an actual novel (even if it is a kid's one) will generate a little more momentum. Mind you I have a deadline to keep to as my trial version of Works 2010 runs out in a couple of weeks and I don't have the £110 it takes to click and buy the actual program - so fingers crossed everyone that I finish it by then LOL.

Well in only few days and with simply the will to do it, I appear to have got myself started as a proper writer LOL - So I have found that if you want something in life you just have to get out there and grab it with both hands!
I have taken a wrinkled old manuscript of poetry that has been hanging around my house for years gathering dust, shaken it off and given it a whole new lease of life - well it wasn't quite sitting around the house, it was actually sitting around in my hard drive - but you get the picture! And now I know I can do it I am determined to do it again.
So watch this space people because I am taking up the pen and with mine and the will of heaven I will actually finish writing all those novels I have been sitting on for the last 20 years and package and publish them to within an inch of their lives.
I will be a writer by God! And my voice will be heard!

Well I have been busy! Now I know it's not quite Amazon LOL - but I have managed to work really hard to compile ALL my poetry into one HUGE and AMAZING Mega book!!!! A Lifetime of Reflections is my first go and self publishing and it is available now to buy on Lulu.com - the link is in my links. This book is a large, hard back, full colour version with lots of my paintings and photo images to show off my poetry. Hopefully I will soon be able to offer a cheaper version of these poems but I'm well chuffed with myself.
