About Me

My abiding love of mythology, fantasy and reading children's books to my two daughters inspired me to begin writing the 'Crystal Waters series' six years ago.

My mutifaceted career include: Graphic design, Childminding an working in top salons in London (such as Selfridges and Harvey Nichols) as a Beauty Therapist. I also studied the ancient art of Crystal Healing and my passion and fascination for Crystals soon developed.

Canadian born, I lived there until I was five years old until my British parents, yearing to be nearer to family, moved back to Middlesbrough in the North East of England. This is where I live today with my husband Dave and two daughters Emma and Grace.

About Me

I am sixty-two years young and I live in the beautiful, historic seaside town of Ramsgate, in East Kent. I've started writing when I was twelve years old and I've been practising the craft of writing on and off for many years. I've had poetry published in a few magazines and I enjoy performance poetry in local venues; I also belong to the Broadstairs Folk Week Poets. I had my own column in a local paper when in my twenties and I've learnt a lot about editing and publishing over the years. I'm currently writing children's books, which my grandchildren love, and I’ve been advised by a publisher to get an agent.

I’m also a qualified psychic-medium and speaker and I teach many spiritual subjects, but writing has always been my first love. I lived on three different islands for seven years; the first one was, La Gomera, a small but stunning sub-tropical island in the Canaries, where I spent twenty-one months writing lots of poetry and making copious notes for my first book, ‘Where the Spirit Moves You’. I then moved to Malta for fifteen months where I had fantastic views of Mellieha Bay and Malta’s sister island, Gozo, and this gave me inspiration for my writing. I then moved to Gozo for four years and it was amazing to live and work by the turquoise Mediterranean. My spiritual and writing students used to come and stay with me on Malta and Gozo and they found it an ideal place to have fun while learning.

I can help students hone their writing skills and banish writer's block. I also teach Journal writing but this is not just rigid daily diary entries, I show students how to tap into their inner resources which can be quite powerful.

I enjoy motivating people who are stuck in their lives and it’s a joy to help them rekindle their dreams. Inspirational speaking is something I have done for numerous years and if I only touch the life of one person in the audience then it is worthwhile.

The titled book; "Thorgil Bloodaxe, Enter the White Queen" was released through FriesenPress in Sept 2011 and is previewed and available for purchase in their online bookstore;

About Thorgil Bloodaxe;

    Thorgil Ragnarrsson the Bloodaxe is the fourteenth son of the exiled and disinherited Danish prince named Ragnarr, who was the son of Sigurdr Hringr the King of Gotaland.

     Thorgil's mother was the comely-looking Sonja of Verdal (Ragnarr's fifth wife), the daughter of a Norge chieftain. Sonja died in child-labor giving birth to Thorgil.

     The son of Ragnarr was born during the last few ruling years of the Norge king; Harald Gra'fell the son of Eirik.

     During the reign of Haakon Sigurdsson, a vassal king of the Danish king; Thorgil at the age of eight was branded a "Holtakari" a Forestman for the crime of committing murder upon the siblings of a wealthy Jarl whose sons provoked the youngster into the deadly fight.

About Ralph E. Laitres;

     I am a man with a very active imagination. It has been said that I am cut from a different piece of cloth and that I like to think outside of the normal box of creativity, be it, if it applies to my artwork or writings. I enjoy writing about Thorgil and all his friends. Since his creation way back in 1995, the Viking character has grown and evolved. He has been well accepted by many and has a large following.

    I proudly served in the United States Marine Corps (1980-90). I graduated Marine boot camp (Parris Island S.C.) in September of 1980. That was a very proud moment for myself, was glad to get off that island. Since then, I with my wife (Laurie Laitres) have visited Parris Island twice to view the graduation of our sons; Michael Driscoll (proudly served 6 years, and now a Roughneck with a drilling company), and Kyle Driscoll (attached to 2/7 Comm Bn at 29 Palms Ca..). In 2010, we traveled to Fort Benning Georgia to view our son; Nicholas Laitres graduate from Army boot camp/infantry training, and is now attached to the 1st Calvary Division at Fort Hood Texas.

     In the Marines, I was trained as a Marine Combat Engineer with the 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Combat Engineer Bn. I received my basic MOS training at the old G-4 range at Camp Lejeune N.C. (1980) where I received instructional training in explosives and demolitions, landmine warfare, boobytrapping, improvised devices, obstacles, employment of standard and hasty-protective minefields, and field fortification.

     Years later, I became an instructor at the G-4 range (1983-1985) and the Engineer Training Area F12 Range (1986-1990). We were tasked to train U.S. military personnel; Marines, Army, Navy, Air Force and foreign military personnel in the use of explosives and to respect land mines.

     In 1989, I completed the Euro NATO special instructor course from the Euro NATO Training Engineer Centre (ENTEC). In that same year, myself and several other instructors were sent to a CIA run school that fine-tuned our skills in the use of advanced demolitions and the construction of improvised devices and booby trapping.

     In 1990, I was discharged from the Marine Corps (Sgt, Senior Instructor) to start my career as a Correction Officer (retire; 1 April 2011).

     In the mid-1990s, I volunteered as an instructor with the Young Marine program; the Griswold Growlers (Griswold Young Marines). In 1997 I became the Commanding officer and that summer at Camp Rowland in Niantic, our unit took the overall trophy award for having the best military knowledge, overall discipline and motivation.

About Me

 I am a self-published author residing in Stanmore. Now in semi-retirement mode, I have written one novel now published with an eye-catching new cover entitled 'The Pentacle of Northumbria'.

It is a fantasy story around the swirling world of Celtic sorcery, witchcraft mythical paganism.

The story tells of two teenagers, Wally, studious, bright and reserved and Bessie, tough, street-wise but not academic who collide one wintery November night and are slowly but inexorably drawn into this parallel world. Here they travel across Britain and Ireland and even to Germany in order to confront the menacing growth of dark witchcraft and find the missing pieces of the Northumbrian Pentacle.

Book is steeped in magic and folklore and mixes fact and fiction. It is aimed at the young adult market.
